Recent Progress of Advanced High Strength Steels for Automotive Applications
The automotive industry confronts the issues concerned environment and safety,so the lightweighting of autoboby plays one of key roles in view of fuel efficiency,CO2 reduction and development of environment-friendly vehicles.Advanced high strength steels and the galvanized ones are expected to keep up the most promising materials for the weight reduction of auto body with securing crashworthness,corrosion resistance and cost competitiveness in the present and up-coming future.Considering the priority of advanced high strength steels and the galvanized to both steel makers and car manufacturers,some recent progresses are reviewed on the development of various AHSS steels including HPF,TWIP steels and X-AHSS,hot-dip galvanizing technology to improve the coating qualities,forming and application issues by illustrating some POSCO’s recent activities.
