The Third Generation Automobile Sheet Steels Presenting High Strength and High Ductility
The research and development of the third generation automobile steel with high strength and high ductility at home and abroad are briefly introduced.Based on this introduction,the basic research,industry trial,and the forming and applications of the third generation automobile sheet steel developed by CISRI are presented in details.It is shown that an excellent mechanical properties of steels prepared in Labs.are about 700~1600MPa for tensile strength and 30~50GPa·% for the product (R m×A ) of tensile strength to elongation; and the mechanical properties produced in the industry trials are about 700~900MPa for tensile strength and no less than 30GPa·% for the (R m×A ).This combination of high strength and high ductility is believed to be attributed to the ultrafine duplex structure and the role of the phase transformation induced plasticity (TRIP effects).The applications of the third generation automobile steels for vehicles in First Automobile Works and in Hunan University are introduced briefly.At last,the trend of the third generation automobile sheet steels to the ultra high tensile strength with a even higher (Rm×A ) are proposed and discussed.
