Fuel Injection System to Meet Future Requirements for Large Diesel Engines
It is commonly known that the fuel injection system is the most significant sub-system within a Diesel engine and that it requires parts of the highest manufacturing precision. In order to meet the extensive applications of Diesel engines, the highperformance fuel injection systems must be developed and made available. This paper introduces the development of the conventional fuel injection system and the modern fuel injection systems (such as electronic control unit injector system and common rail injection system) and discusses their characteristics and application prospects. It is indicated that although electronic control common rail and control unit injector systems have been flourishing, the accumulated experiences of manufacturing and matching for conventional pump-line-nozzle fuel systems are available conveniently and economically, which will coexist with the modern fuel injection systems in the near future. So the conventional fuel injection systems should be paid more attention to while developing the new fuel injection systems.
