SAGA GIS for Mapping Coastal Storm Inundation Area to Anuga Model in Pearl River Delta

The Pearl River Delta, located in south-eastern China,is one of the most economic regions in China. After 20 years development, the region created 10% of Chinese gross domestic products and gathered 3% of the national population on the territory just accounting for 0.4% of the total territory.Due to the low lying topography of the Pearl River Delta, major risks and threats are sea level rise (i.e.accelerated storm surges) and inland flooding (i.e.heavy rains and peak flows). To simulate the inundation area is meaningful reference for urban planning and urban sustainable development in pearl river delta area.In order to get more accuracy simulated results, high resolution map is the key for Anuga model (developed by Australia National University and Geoscience Australia). In this paper,we try to use the SAGA Geography Information System to get the high resolution map for Anuga model. The results shows that the Digital Elevation Model created from SAGA GIS(developed by Dept.for Physical Geography,G(o)ttingen and University of Hamburg ) is more convenient and more accuracy for Anuga model.
