Chub Mackerel Fishing Ground in Relate to Marine Environmental Factors in the East China Sea in Summer Based on High Resolution Remote Sensing Data

Chub mackerel, targeted by the light purse seine fishery,is one of the most important economic marine fish species in China.Based on catch data of Chinese light purse-seine fishery in the East China Sea and remote sensing data, the relationships between the fishing ground of chub mackerel and marine environmental factors, such as sea surface temperature (SST),sea surface chlorophyll-a concentration of (SSC) and sea surface height (SSH) were analyzed. The results indicated that higher catch occurred during the period July to September at a same SSC range 0.1 to 0.3 mg/m3.Chub mackerel were more frequently caught in different months with different temperature range and SSH range. For temperature, the central fishing ground distributed in the area that SST ranged from 28.5 to 29.5 °C in July,29 to 29.5 °C in August and 27.0 to 29.0 °C in September respectively.Higher catch were observed when SSH ranged from 60 to 70 cm in July,60 to 80cm in August and 55 to 70cm in September. These ranges of SST,SSC and SSH were considered as the indicators for ascertaining the potential fishing ground of chub mackerel in the East China Sea in summer.
