Orini and Powire:Reviving The Locality of Laika for Sustainable Design
Vernacular architecture are known to be more adaptable to their environment, due to the local wisdom evolved over many generations. The purpose of this study is to make an attempt at highlighting orini and powire, elements of Tolaki traditional house, as a solution in the development of contemporary environmentally friendly architectural design. The results of this study indicate that the statement contained in Laika is an architectural expression derived from the perspectives inherent in the Tolakinese way of life.CFD simulation on Laika also shows that the use oforini and powire can reduce the indoor air temperature. This study is expected to strengthen the theoretical foundations of Tolaki architecture, considering that Laika, as a physical structure, no longer exists.
