Sustainable Utilization of Natural Resources and the Environmental Risk Management Strategies of Poverty Alleviation and Development --A Case Study of Sustainable Use of Wild Chinese Herbal Medicine in Daping Village, Pingwu County,Sichuan Province
For both poor households and poor communities survival or development, natural capital is the most important livelihood capital.Once the natural resources of livelihood capital, especially the renewable and sustainable utilization can be realized, it could not only provide an effective guarantee for communitiesenvironmental disaster management, but also the basis for communities sustainable development.The practice of Daping village in Pingwu county, namely Sichuan Provinces Community-based sustainable use of wild Chinese herbal medicines provides an effective model of environmental risk management and poverty alleviation and development.The environmental risk management model based on communities will and management system, not only promotes the sustainable use of natural resources, but also achieves effective community-based environmental risk management and it will realize a win-win situation of environment (biodiversity conservation) and communitys development eventually.
