DFIDs Work & Experience on Disaster Risk Management and Poverty Reduction

　　When Wenchuan earthquake happened, DFID (Department for International Development) began to focus on integrating disaster reduction into its poverty reduction activities in China, and set up a Technical Assistance Facility for Wenchuan Earthquake Post-Disaster Recovery Programme.The purpose of the Technical Assistance Facility was to help make the recovery more participatory and responsive to the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable.Working with Chinese and international agencies on Wenchuan earthquake post-reconstruction not only increased Chinas awareness of international examples and ideas, but also increased DFIDs awareness of the importance of disaster reduction to poverty reduction, and the significance of sharing Chinas experience with other countries affected by natural disasters in particular the developing countries.
