Chemical Compositions and Immunomodulatory Activity of Coriolus hirsutus Mycelia
Medicinal mushrooms are very important resources for many medicinal drugs.Coriolus hirsutus is one of the medicinal fungi which produce laccase.During the laccase production,the mycelium is a by-product which could be used to develop medicinal products.In this paper,the chemical compositions and immunomodulatory activity C.hirsutus were investigated.Dried mycelia of C.hirsutus,produced by submerged cultivation,contained 9.46% moisture,26.06% protein,1.15% fat,57.87% total sugar,5.47% ash,and average energy of 1469.36kJ/l00g dry matter.Eight fatty acids were detected in the mycelia,in which the relative content of unsaturated fatty acids (64.9%) is much higher than saturated fatty acids.It contained 16 free amino acids,including 7 essential amino acids (tryptophan was not detected),and the total amino acid content was 2.63%.Six 5-nucleotides (AMP,CMP,GMP,UMP,XMP,and IMP) were detected and total 5-nucleotide content was 2.74mg/g.Fructose,mannitol,and glucose contents were 2.47%,2.03%,and 1.8%,respectively,and trehalose and arabinose contents were less than 0.10%.The immunomodulatory activity of C.hirsutus mycelia was evaluated in mice,and the results showed that different mycelium doses could improve macrophage phagocytic function and serum hemolysin levels,only low dose group 300mg/(kg·d) significantly enhanced the NK cell activity and increased the spleen index,and only the middle dose group 600 mg / (kg · d) significantly increased the thymus index.Therefore,C.hirsutus mycelia could enhance the immune function in mice and have immunomodulatory activity.
