The Potential of Laetiporus sulphureus (Bull.) Murrill Mushroom

  Antioxidant activity is one of important bioactivity of compounds fiom L.sulphureus mushroom.The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of L.sulphureus as antioxidant on injuries and lipide peroxidation in gastric mucosa after stress action,since ulcer disease of stomach and duodenum is accompanied by intensification of lipide peroxidation (LPO).From air dry fruiting body of L.sulphureus aqueous suspensions were prepared by mixing dry powder of mushrooms in starch jelly.The rats were randomLy assigned to one of three groups.It was established that the intact control group of rats the injuries in stomach were absent.In the stress-control group of rats the development of erosions,ulcers and hemorrhages was accompanied by dramatic increase of content LPO products.The treatment of rats with L.sulphureus inhibited formation of erosions,ulcers and hemorrhages by 66.2%,70.1%,and 80.3%,respectively,compared to the control group (p < 0.05).In these rats the content of diene conjugates (DC),thiobarbituric acid-active compounds (TBA-AS) and shyffovy basis (SHB) were considerably diminished.The potential of L.sulphureus in health-promoting functional food and pharmaceutical industries was shown.
