Study of Morphology and Mycelial Growth Characteristics of Several Ganoderma Species Collected from Mazandaran Province, Iran

Different isolates of the genus Ganoderma were collected from different sites of North Iran. The isolates were purified by hyphal tip culture.Micromorphological characters of mycelia and spores, anatomy of cutis as well as macromorphological characters were used for taxonomical study of collected isolates.Growth rate, growth coefficient and micromorphological characteristics of mycelia were estimated for all isolates using Malt extract agar (MEA) media.Studies led to identification of four species including; Ganoderma applanatum,G.lucidum,G.resinaceum and G.australe.Among all isolates the isolate (22(2)) morphologically identified as G.applanatum showed the best growth rate but moderate growth coefficient by GR=1.20 rnm/day and the GC=12.8 rnm/day.G.resinaceum (2) and G.lucidum (G17) were set after G.applanatum for the growth rate by GR=1.04,GC=13.4 mm/day & GR=0.91,GC=7.3 mm/day respectively.Although same isolates possess the same range of growth rate but some showed different GR which may be related to the different host relationship or the ecological impact of environment on the isolates.
