Pharmaceutical Aspects of Medicinal Mushrooms
Mushrooms have a very promising pharmacological potential.In the Western hemisphere,until now this potential is not adequately used.To get the status of authorized drugs intensified efforts are necessary to comply with the requirements for drug licensation.Main requirements are pharmaceutical quality including identity,purity and content,efficacy and safety.After definition of the terms medicinal mushroom mushroom drug and mushroom pharmaceutical in the style of corresponding herbal terms,the paper analyzes the current status under special consideration of medicinal mushrooms.It aims to support the development of legalized pharmaceutical preparations of medicinal mushrooms.Besides it refers to some additional uses of mushrooms in oharmacy and medicine.
