Tunability of Longitudinal Wave Band Gap in One Dimensional Magneto-Elastic Phononic Crystal
We study the feasibility of tuning the longitudinal wave band gap of one dimensional(1-D) magneto-elastic rod-shaped phononic crystal by employing extemal magnetic field and compressive pre-stress.The effective elastic,piezomagnetic constants and effective permeability are obtained by the introduction of a nonlinear magnetostrictive constitutive relation,respectively.Through applying the plane wave expansion (PWE) method,we obtain the generalized eigenvalue equation of band-gap structures.The results indicate that the applied static magnetic field and compressive pre-stress can control the band structure of phononic crystal.
