A Novel 9/10 Primary/Secondary Pole Number Linear Switched-Flux PM Machine
Based on the fundamental structure of planar linear switched-flux permanent magnet (LSFPM) machines with even poles primary,a novel 9/10 primary/secondary poles combination LSFPM machine with odd poles primary has been developed. In order to increase the thrust force density, some major design parameters such as secondary pole width, split ratio and primary slot width were investigated by finite element analysis (FEA).Due to the discontinuity of primary, there exists longitudinal end effect in LSFPM machines, and an effective method, viz.utility of end auxiliary teeth, was used. Its position was also optimized to acquire the lowest force ripple under load.To the optimized configuration, some basic electromagnetic performances were also analyzed and compared, which could be useful to establish the corresponding mathematical model. The results demonstrate that this kind of LSFPM machine is a good candidate for direct linear drive application.
