Condition Monitoring of Doubly-Fed Induction Generators in Wind Farms
This paper presents a review of condition monitoring technologies of doubly-fed induction generators (DFIGs) in offshore wind farms.The DFIG plays an extremely important role in the wind energy industry.With the ever increasing demand for improving the reliability and energy efficiency as well as reducing the maintenance and operational costs,there is a trend to develop the state-of-the art condition monitoring technologies in offshore wind power applications.This work conducts a comprehensive statistics survey of the failure modes of the wind turbine generators in the offshore wind farm during the past years,as well as recent technical advances in condition monitoring technologies of DFIGs in wind energy.The focus is placed on the winding failures and their condition monitoring facilities.
