A Discretization Method to Solve Velocity and Temperature Fields Coupling Problem in Finite Element Simulation
Plate rolling is a very complex metal deformation process in which temperature is an important factor affecting metal deformation and material prosperities. In the rolling process, plastic work is converted into heat which warms up the rolled pieces. However, temperature changes have a significant impact on the metal deformation resistance. In order to achieve high accuracy,it is necessary to solve the velocity and temperature fields in a coupled manner. To solve such coupled problem,we use a Lagrange multiplier method. In the numerical simulation process of rolling coupled thermo,we mainly use the rigid-plastic finite element method to form the coupled finite element equations by discretization. The rolling deformation zone is discrete firstly, and then the variables involved are also discrete by using the rigid-plastic finite element method. We discusses the details of the boundary conditions for discretization, calculate a partial derivative of the discrete functional by variational theories to form the Hessian matrix. To increase the precious of calculation, the boundary conditions of temperature field is considered as nonlinear form. The coupling calculation result is compared with that obtained by solving the velocity field individually, which verifies the superiority of coupling calculation.
