Effect of die shape on H62 brass forming for continuous extrusion based on numerical simulation research
Continuous extrusion extending forming technology has much excellence such as large extending scale, high productivity,energy-saving,low consumption and so on,especially adapts to the products with large dimension, high strength and extra requirement of length.By comparing with traditional technology, the brass strip produced by introducing this technology possesses enough advantages.DEFORM software was used as the tool to simulate, analyze and establish the brass analysis model for deformation process, based on rigid viscoplasticity FEM theory. The H62 brass were simulated, and the equivalent stress field, equivalent strain field, billet and die temperature field were analyzed. With the increasing of the width-thickness ratio, the numerical value of the stress field, strain field, billet and die deformation temperature increases.Through the tensile testing and observation of microstructure evolution, the properties and microstructure evolutions of brass were found during continuous extrusion. The grain size after extrusion is finer than the one before extrusion significantly, and the grain size distribution is more uniform. With the increasing of the width-thickness ratio, the tensile strength, elongation of the products decreases, and the grain size of the microstructure gradually increases.
