Study on Catalytic Synthesis of N-butyl Propionate Using Environmentally Friendly Catalys

  The synthesis of butyl propionate from propionic acid and n-butanol with rare earth solid superacid SO42/TiO2/La3+ as environmentally friendly catalyst was studied.The influential factors of reaction were investigated.Results show that the appropriate conditions are:molar ratio of n-butyl alcohol to propionic acid was 3 ∶ 1; Catalysts weight was 1.2g(the amount of 0.1 molar propionic acid); Cyclohexane is used as water-carrying reagent with 1.0 mL; Reaction time was 1.5 hour.The esterification rate of n-butyl propionate is about 99.08 %.
