Numerical simulation for discontinuities propagation on the curved shell structure with XFEM
The extended finite element method (XFEM) uses enriched function which has the property of discontinuity and singularity to represent the crack independent of the mesh,so it provides both efficient and accurate solution to numerical simulation of crack propagation.A novel numerical method which extended this feature to shell structures is presented.The concept of the enriched shape functions is introduced into the continuum-based (CB) shell element.
