Analysis of the specimen type effect on fracture toughness of RPV steels with different embrittlement degrees on the basis of the Prometey and the Beremin models
It is known that values of fracture toughness determined on the basis of specimens of different types may differ each from other if small scale yielding condition is not met.Usually such difference is explained by different constraints of material near the crack tip. This explanation appears to be not sufficiently correct as there are some experimental and calculative results contradicting the constraint hypothesis.
