Analytical and numerical models for impact crater formation and penetration
The paper will discuss analytical and numerical implementations of the incubation time fracture criterion in order to predict fracture initiation, evolution and arrest in brittle materials. The problems to be covered include impact crater formation (formation of craters on the Moon surface, fracture of asphalt layer as a result of automobile stud impacts, fracture or ceramics) and penetration problems (fracture of ceramics).
