New investigation of dynamic lateral compression of ring by two rigid plates

  As one kind of typical type I structure, mechanical behavior of ring/tube systems has become a classical problem and been widely investigated. Since the establishment of DeRuntz- Hodge/Burton-Craig model of the rings crushed by two rigid plates, a lot of works have been made to improve the accuracy of the theory. However, due to the limitation of the experiments and complexity of the theory, some secondary but impacrtant factors in the deformation of rings have still not been clarified. Morerover, experimental results showed that the rings displayed velocity sensitivity (the asymmetry deformation mode, secondary plastic hinges, and the existence of initial force peak).
