Towards a quantitatively understanding of the effects of substrate in-plane compression on the wrinkling mode transition in hyperelastic film/substrate bilayers
This paper explores the effects of in-plane compression of the substrate on the wrinkling mode transition in hyperelastic bilayer systems subject to the plane strain compression. The objective is to pursue the quantitative connection between the onset of wrinkling mode transition and the amount of in-plane compression of the substrate. To this end, we devise a constraint growth model consisting of two stages. The constraint growth of the substrate in the first stage leads to the in-plane compressive stress in the substrate which is an explicit function of the growth factor.
