Deformation mode maps of aluminum foam-filled corrugated sandwich panels under out-of-plane compression
The deformation-modes of corrugated metallic sandwich panels filled with closed-cell metallic foam under quasi-static out-of-plane compression are simulated numerically using the method of finite elements (FE). Aluminum foam with 76% and 83% porosity is considered as the filler material in the FE model. Whilst focus is placed upon quantifying systematically the effect of slenderness ratio and inclination angle of corrugated plate on the compressive behavior of the hybrid sandiwch panel, the corresponding deformation-mode maps are also constructed.
