A Weight Function for Zr-2.5Nb Pressure Tube Burst Test Specimens
Based on a literature review,the weight function for an axial through-wall crack in a cylinder has not been reported in the open literature.A weight function for an axial through-wall crack in a cylinder that is applicable to the pressure tube burst test specimens has been developed and is described in this paper.Three-dimensional finite element analyses were performed to calculate the stress intensity factors corresponding to line loads on the crack face.The calculated stress intensity factors were used to develop a weight function for the pressure tube burst test specimens based on regression analysis and engineering judgment.
