ANALYSIS OF BRIDGED CRACK GROWTH ALONG INTERFACE
The nonlocal fracture criterion is used to analyze the quasi-static growth of bridged cracks along interface junction of materials. This criterion is based on the following two conditions: 1) the condition of the limit equilibrium of the crack tip (it is the equality of the energy release rate and the rate of the energy dissipation by bonds); 2) the condition of the bond limit elongation at the trailing edge of the bridged zone. The regimes of equilibrium and quasi-static growth of the bridged zone and the crack tip are investigated on the basis of these two conditions. The comparison between the proposed fracture criterion and other fracture criterions revealed the results which are close for cracks with small scale bridging and considerably different for cracks with large scale bridging.
