Microstrucmred m-BiVO4:Hydrothermal synthesis and primary Photocatalyst Application
A novel monoclinic BiVO4 (m-BiVO4) dendritic microstructure has been successfully synthesized via a hydrothermal crystallization route without any surfactants or templates. The prepared m-BiVO4 powders were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD),scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy.Experimental results indicate branches grow virtually perpendicular to the surface of the BiVO4 microrods cores. In general, the BiVO4 microrod backbones are very neat and straight with an average diameter of 500 nm and lengths ranging from 6 to 10 μm,whereas the length of branches grown on the BiVO4 backbone ranges from 5 to 8 μm and the diameter of about 400 nm.The photocatalytic activities of m-BiVO4 dendritic microstructure were evaluated on the degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye under visible-light irradiation (λ ≥ 420 nm).The results indicated that m-BiVO4 dendritic microstructure exhibited excellent photocatalytic activities.
