Electrospun magnetic separable TiO2-coated BaFe12O19 nanofibers and its recycle photocatalytic property

Magnetically separable composites TiO2/BaFe12O19 electrospun nanofibers were successfully obtained by electrospinning technique combined with sol-gel following by calcination. The morphologies of the samples were charaterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).X-ray diffracton pattems (XRD) was used to explore the crystallization of the samples. The magnetic properties of the samples were determined by vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM).The specific surface area and pores of the samples were measured by N2 adsorption-desorption analysis. The results indicate that the composite nanofibers are 260-350 nm in diameter.BET surface area of the compoties nanofibers is 176.1m2/g.The photocatalytic activity of the fibers was investigated by the photocatalytic decompostion of methylene (MB) under the visible/UV light irradiation. And the result indicat that in contrast to pure TiO2 fibers, the composties TiO2/BaFe12Ol9 fibers shows photocatalytic activity. The decolorizing efficiency of MB is up to 91%(TiO2/BaFe12O19 Calcined at 500℃).Moreover,the recycle experiments results suggest that the photocatalytic activity of TiO2/BaFe12O19 nanofibers keep high activity after five cycles. This study demonstrates that TiO2/BaFe12O19 nanofibers are beneficial for enhancement of the crystallinity, large surface area, and higher photocatalytic activity.Furthermore, these fibers could be recollected easily with a magnet in a photocatalytic process and will effectively avoid secondary pollution of treated water.
