EFFECT OF RELATIVE DENSITY AND NUMBER OF CYCLES ON RESIDUAL STRAIN CHARACTERISTICS AFTER UNDRAINED CYCLIC LOADING
By conducting a set of Ko-controlled torsional shear tests under undrained conditions, the effect of relative density and the number of cycles on residual deformation characteristics was examined. For the purpose of examining the relationship between residual shear strain and residual volumetric strain, various loading sets were applied such as monotonic shear loading after undrained cyclic shear.Ko-drained test after undrained cyclic shear and above two combined. From the results,it was found that effective stress recovery behavior during drainage and monotonic loading was different due to differentfabric recovery characteristics.Relative density has more effect on recovery behavior than the number of cycles in the rage of 40% to 60% of relative density and 0.5 to 1 of accumulated shear strain.
