IONS CONCENTRATION OF ARTIFICIAL SEAWATER EFFECT ON CEMENT TREATED SOIL

Cement stabilization of soil is widely used in engineering project. The present research focuses on the durability of cement treated soil in undersea environment,as previous study indicated that aggressive ions in seawater can induce deterioration of cement treated soil, accordingly influence its strength. It is significant to predict the strength of cement treated soil in long term. However, the laboratory study on deterioration of cement treated soil is time consuming. In order to achieve the long term effect in limited time, the experiment expects to accelerate the process of deterioration by increasing aggressive ions concentration in seawater. The micro cone penetration test is conducted to measure the strength distributions with depth of specimen, and moisture variation with depth of specimen is given out.The results indicate that higher aggressive ions concentration induces greater deterioration degree, and the moisture distribution with depth of specimen consists with strength distribution, also a simple equation is given out to predict the long term deterioration depth.
