STUDY ON SOIL-WATER CHARACTERISTIC CURVE OF UNSATURATED LOESS

  Studying the soil-water characteristic curve has a great significance in theory and application.In this paper,some studies have been done based on the landslide happened on the north slope of Bailu Tableland in Baqiao District,Xian City,Shaanxi Province,Western China on September 17,2011.Firstly,the loess is classified as silty clay loess based on the test of physical properties.Secondly,based on experiment of soil-water characteristic curve by Pressure Plate Extractor,soil-water characteristic curves of soil samples were obtained,air entry values were determined and influence of dry density on soil-water characteristic curves was analysed.Lastly,after comparative analysis of three soil-water characteristic curve models based on test data with lsqcurvefit function provided by Matlab software,it was found that VG Model is more suitbale for the Bailu Tableland landslide site loess than Fredlund & Xing Model and Gardner Model and all parameters of VG Model were obtained.
