Serum Immunoglobulins Concentrations and Diarrhoea Symptoms in Calves Fed Milk Replacer with Propolis
The aim of this study was to estimate the possibility of health improvement and the reduction of diarrhoea incidence in the neonatal period of calves by preventive use of the ethanol extract of propolis (EEP)as a fodder supplement. The supplemented EEP had a positive effect for the examined calves.as the clinical symptoms of diarrhoea subsided.Due to the analysis of the concentration of separate immunoglobulin classes in the first weeks of life of calves.EEP was found to have protective action against infections. In contrast,in the group of calves that feed was not supplemented with EEP,immunoglobulin G2 was 100% higher due to a pathogenetic factor, and suffered from diarrhoea symptoms.
