Effects of Acidification on Ammonia Emissions from Pig Digested Slurry
Reduction effects of acidification with different pH value adjustments on ammonia (NH,)emissions from digested slurry storage were investigated.Three parallel pilot-scale experiments were conducted including two different acidified treatments compared to the control group with non-treatment in this study.Pig digested slurry was stored in specially designed reactors. The pH values and temperatures in digested slurry were continuously monitored by sensors.Ammonia emissions from the 9 reactors were regularly sampled by atmospheric sampling instrument and then determined byspectrophotometer.Ammoma emissions were high for non-treated digested slurry during storage. The reduction efficiency on NH7 emissions was 44.7% for treated group with pH value adjusted to 5.5,while no significant difference was found in treated group with pH value acidified to 6.5 compared to control group.
