AN INVESTIGATION ON MODELLING AND ANALYSIS OF POWER REQUIREMENTS FOR MATERIAL REMOVAL IN CENTRELESS GRINDING
Energy consumption is a key factor to influence low-carbon manufacturing. To accurately quantify power requirements in machining is a major issue to be addressed. The paper analyses and discusses the modeling of energy consumption and material removal rate (MRR) in centreless grinding and their intrinsic relationship.A dynamic model of workpiece forming process is developed to calculate grinding forces, control force and feed force. The forces are applied to obtain the power requirements in real time. The power model can be used to estimate energy consumption in plunge-feed centreless grinding process.Computational analysis has been carried out.The reliability of the model is validated by experimental results.
