On the Dynamics of Secondary Eyewall Formation of Tropical Cyclone:Outer Rainbands Roles
Secondary eyewall formation (SEF) can be viewed essentially as the culmination of tropical cyclone (TC) vortex-scale response to sustained diabatic heating outside the primary eyewall.Using an idealized cloud-resolving simulation of SEF,this study examinesthe unbalanced boundary layer (BL) response to asymmetric inflow forcing induced by outer rainbands (ORBs) in order to understand the mechanisms driving the sustained convections outside the primary eyewall during the early phase of SEF.
