Evaluation and Analysis of Water Quality at the Dahuofang Reservoir based on the Fuzzy Evaluation and Analytical Hierarchy Process

Based on the fuzzy mathematics and analytical hierarchy process (AHP), the water quality was evaluated and analyzed according to 7 water pollution factors in 7 monitoring sections at the Dahuofang Reservoir which reflected the water quality at reservoir inflow, in reservoir area, and at reservoir outflow. The results show that: In 2010, the Dahuofang Reservoir was mainly polluted by nitrogen/phosphorus nutrient salts.Among the reservoir inflow, the Hunhe River was the most polluted. The water quality in reservoir area was mainly of Class Ⅱ; the water quality at reservoir outflow was also of Class Ⅱ, and was safe and reliable.According to the change of water quality monitoring value at three sections of Hunhe River (#73, #37 and #7) from 2005-2010, the pollution in the reservoir area had been effectively controlled, and the water quality in the reservoir area had been steadily improved.Based on the fuzzy mathematics, the fuzzy evaluation quantifies some factors of unclear boundary and difficult quantization, and provides a comprehensive evaluation of the membership grade state of object from multiple factors 1.It offers a convenient practical research method for mathematical problems that are complicated and difficult to accurately describe. In terms of water quality evaluation, many scholars have attempted to implement application analysis through the fuzzy evaluation technique. For example, Guo Hua and Tang ZeJun et al 2 analyzed the characteristics of different water quality evaluation methods; Yan Hui and Yu Jianqiao et al 3 improved the membership function and the maximum membership grade principle in the basic fuzzy mathematical method, and optimized the effect of fuzzy evaluation; Xi Wenjuan, Xie Rongrong and Yong Pang et al 4-5 improved the determination method of the weight of every index in the traditional fuzzy evaluation; and Cao Yufeng, Xie Qun and Jin Xin 6-8 applied this technique to evaluate the health of water environment in the ocean and river. This research comprehensively evaluated water pollution based on the fuzzy mathematics. In order to obtain a more reliable rational conclusion of fuzzy evaluation, it optimally determined the weight of water quality based on AHP.In order to better reflect the time-space domain change of water quality in this reservoir, this research has also carried out space domain analysis based on the water quality monitoring data at 7 monitoring sections in 2010, and implemented the time dimension analysis based on the water quality monitoring data4 at three sections of Hunhe River (#73, #37 and #7) from 2005 to 2010.The research results provided important references and suggestions for the treatment of the water environment the reservoir.
