Decolorization of C.I. Direct Green 6 dye in aqueous solution by electrocoagulation using iron anode
The present study applied iron anode electrochemical method to remove color from Direct Green 6 dye wastewater.Decolorization efficiency and electrical energy consumption were also calculated to compare optimal values.The effects of factors consist of current density,initial pH,initial dye concentration and Na2 SO4 electrolyte solution concentration on the color removal efficiency and energy consumption have been also investigated.The experimental results show that the decolorrization of Direct Green 6 in the aqueous phase was very effective with this method.The current density of 3.333 mA/cm2,initial pH value of 6.65,initial dye concentration of 50 mg/L,Na2SO4 concentration of 0.1 mol/L,stirring speed of 600 r/min,temperature of 20℃,interelectrode distance of 16 mm and electrolyte time of 60 minutes were optimal conditions for Direct Green 6 dye decolorization,the decolorization efficiency reached 90.3%,energy consumption for decolorization in conditions mentioned above was 4.073 kWh/kg-dye.
