Analysis of optimum U-tube diameter in ground source heat pump
In order to reduce the pump energy consumption in GSHP,pipe diameter is increased to solve the problem. When flux of pump is constant,by choosing pipes of different diameters for numerical calculation and simulation, the pump energy consumption and the heat transfer of ground heat exchanger are both analyzed. It could be concluded that an appropriate increase of pipe diameter could reduce pump energy consumption and enhance heat transfer. However, when the pipe diameter is too large, the hot short circuit of ground heat exchanger would be serious, thus, increase of pipe diameter should be based on the hot short circuit between branch pipes. It is given in the paper that the suggest pipe diameter would exist during 30 mm to 40 mm.The analysis would reduce energy consumption of pump, improve a guarantee for the selection of pipe diameter and the design of GSHP with great guide and economic benefits.
