Fundamental model of hazard prevention system with remote monitoring and health diagnosis for aged dam structure
Climate change frequently caused severe natural disasters in the last decade in Taiwan.Risk assessment of structure safety for the aged dam becomes a quite important topic to avoid hazard. This study establishes a prototype of hazard prevention system with remote monitoring and health diagnosis for aged dam structure by creating the risk criteria upon failure simulation module associated with measurement data for evaluating dam body behaviors.Development of system prototype employs the open-source program to simulate the failure modes of a practical dam due to critical geotechnical and geometrical conditions. The engineering data warehouse required to support the expert knowledge bank at system backbone is built up to collect monitoring data relative to the dam structure and circumambient information.Risk indexes feedback by expert opinions are further formed as assessment criteria for the hazard prevention model. As the result, the model provides web-based interface with data integration and management for hazard alert as well as founds the base of the remote monitoring and risk assessment center.
