Detailed Characterization of Different Components in Impact Copolymer Polypropylene and Their Relationship with the Mechanical Properties

  Isotactic polypropylene (iPP) has excellent properties such as rigidity,thermal and chemical resistance,while is well known for poor impact strength which limits its applications.The in-reactor blending of iPP with other polyolefins (especially ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR)) by sequential multistage polymerization has proved to be the best method for toughening iPP i.e.making Impact copolymer(ICP).The interactions of different phases present in Impact copolymer of PP (ICP) are extremely complex in nature,and therefore understanding of the relationship between structure,morphology,and deformation phenomena becomes necessary to develop polymeric systems with good mechanical properties especially having good impact-flexural balance.
