Research Progress on the Applications of Biochar and Its Sorption of Organic Pollutants

　　Biochar derived from biomass with characteristics of high porosity,large specific surface area and high adsorption capacity is becoming popular in recent years.This paper has discussed on the applications of biochar like improving soil fertility,adsorbing contaminants and storing carbon to reduce green house gases.As a functional material,biochar has being explored for sorbent towards different kinds of pollutants especially organics due to its high-efficient and cost-effective adsorption process.The research status of biochar applications in treatments of organics was also introduced here in order to provide references for further research on biochar.
