Synthesis and Properties of Superabsorbent based on Biomaterials
In this paper, graft copolymerization of mixtures of acrylic acid (AA) and acarylamide (AM) onto chemically modified pulverized com straws (CMPCS) was carried out by using ammonium per sulfate (APS)as an initiator and N,N-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as a cross-linker in aqueous solution. The effects of variables, such as AA/AM ratio,MBA content,APS content and neutralization degree of AA on water absorbency capacity have been investigated.Based on this information, the result showed that the water absorbencies of samples ranged from 307g/g to 653g/g in distilled water (and 30~65 g/g in 0.9wt% NaCl solution).Meanwhile, the effects of variables on water absorbency were explained according to swelling theory based on the hydro gel chemical and physical properties.Furthermore,by FTIR spectrum, the products had been confirmed with copolymerization network structure..
