Biosorption of Lead From Aqueous Solutions With Cadmium by Heavy Metals Accumulating Ecotype of Sedum Alfredii Hance Powders

Biowaste obtained from the Sedum alfredii Hance was studied as biosorbent for the removal of toxic heavy metals (lead and cadmium).Major influencing factors on lead (Pb2+) adsorption with cadmium (Cd2+) were considered.Sedum alfredii Hance has higher biosorption capability for Pb2+ and Cd2+ from aqueous solutions. The relative capacities were in the order pb2+> Cd2+; The biosorption capability of Pb2+ was best in 10 mg l-1 solution at pH 5 for 1 hour using 2g l-1 Sedum alfredii Hance powders; Experimetal dada obtained for Pb2+ were fitted using adsorption models including Langmuir and Freundlie isotherms,Langmuir model were used to better fit these equilibrium data. The results showed Sedum alfredii Hance has a potential for Pb2+ removal from aqueous solution with Cd2+.
