Transports and Transformations of Dissolved Inorganic Nitrogen in Wuchuan Headwater Stream, Southeast China
A quantitative method was applied to estimate the budgets of both ammonium nitrogen (NH4+-N) and nitrate nitrogen (NO3--N) in the Wuchuan headwater stream,Southeast China. The results showed that the upstream delivered up to 1300 kg NH4+-N and 5600 kgNO3--N per year into the headwater stream.Groundwater contributed 2-69% to streamflow, and about 450 kg NH4 +-N and 140 kg NO3--N to the stream every year.DIN from atmospheric deposition was small.Comparing to the input, the giant gap of NH4+-N and NO3--N exports between the upper and down streams suggested that in-stream processing are strong.
