Mineralization of Pyrene Induced by Interaction Between Ochrobactrum Sp.PW and Ryegrass in Spiked Soil

A bacterial strain PW with a relatively high degradation ability of pyrene was isolated from PAHs contaminated soil of a coking plant (Beijing,China) and identified as Ochrobactrum sp.according to 16S rDNA gene sequence. This study was conducted to investigate the capability of the pyrene-degrading bacteria PW as well as ryegrass in the degradation of pyrene in spiked soil. The results showed that higher dissipation rates were observed in treatments with PW inoculation and ryegrass grow than those of treatments with ryegrass only. The inoculation of PW significantly (p<0.05) increased the dry weight ofryegrass root and shoot, nearly 2.8 and 3.3 times higher than those of the treatments with ryegrass alone.
