Productivity Enhancement and Cadmium Mobilization:Is Biochar Good or Evil?
Whether biochar is potential for good or evil to environment,climate,and agriculture is still on debate in recent years,because different view points came from inconsistent research conclusions and various perspectives.In our work,increased productivities of two lefty vegetables (Amaranthus mangostanus L.and Lactuca sativa var.ramosa) in biochar-amended soils were proved as evidences ofbiochar positive effect on agricultural application.Increases in nitrate with 4%-44% higher in soils and 31%-79% higher in plant tissues compared with the controls were observed in biochar-amended treatments; whereas no significant change was found in total nitrogen content.
