Quantification of Phosphor Distribution on Color Consistence of Mid/low Power LED Packages

  Color inconsistence of phosphor converted LED packages due to variation of the phosphor process is addressed.A methodology to investigate the phosphor distribution of the LED packages has been demonstrated.Cross-sections cutting through the LED dies have been conducted to reveal the phosphor distribution of the LED packages.With the cross-section images taken from SEM,mean size of the phosphor particle,number of the large phosphor particles and the occupied area of the phosphors were calculated.The study suggests a technique in understanding impact of the phosphor distribution on the color variation which can be a basis for the design of a phosphor layer.
