Investigation Scientific Collaboration Between Iran and Other Middle East Countries and Its Relationship with Economic Indicators
This paper investigates Iranian scientific collaboration with researcher from the other Middle East countries in the Web OF Science database during 1999-2009,analyzes the relationship between the number of authors and the number of times an article is cited in other articles for the period of study,investigates the relationship between GDP per capita of each country and their co-author-ship with Iran and also the relationship between GERD (gross domestic expenditure on research and development) /GDP ratio each country and their co-authorship with Iran.The methodology relies on co-authorship as a proxy for scientific collaboration.The descriptive results show that Iranian researcher more collaborate with Turkey and then Kuwait and United Arab Emirates,indicated that there is a significant and weak relationship between the number of authors and the numbers of times a co-authored paper is cited in other papers.
