DISCOVERING DISEASE ASSOCIATIONS IN OUTPATIENT DIAGNOSTIC DATASET
The Hospital Information System (HIS) records the entire process of treatment and holds huge amounts of data. We extracted 1,726,931 rows of outpatient diagnostic record from the HIS of Zhongda Hospital, and then applied a data mining methodology known as association analysis to discover the association rules between diseases. We also used interest factor to evaluate the discovered association patterns. The results indicated there was an association between hypertensive diseases and ischaemic heart diseases. Besides, we also found some other interesting association rules.
