Development of a Web-based Self-management Exercise and Diet Intervention Program with Tailored Motivation and Action Planning for Breast Cancer Survivors
The management of healthy weight is one of top priorities when the healthcare needs of cancer survivors are addressed. Regular exercise and consumption of a balanced diet are essential for healthy weight management. The aim of the study was to develop a Web-based self-management exercise and diet program featuring the delivery of education, development of the capacity to plan, and delivering automatic feedback employing TTM-based strategies. Web-based selfmanagement exercise and diet interventions program was developed employing five-phase system development life-cycle (SDLC) method. The content requirements were obtained by reviewing literatures and focus groups of experts and 20 breast cancer patients. To arrange and refine the requirements based on the TTM theory, the program was designed to deliver education, action planning, and automatic feedback relevant to each of the stages of change. And education, action planning, and automatic feedback was tailored to the each participant through the assessment. The processes of change, selfefficacy, and decisional balance, which are the principal strategies encouraging behavioral change in the TTM theory, were reflected in the educational section, and self-efficacy were also reflected in the automatic feedback. End-users participating in usability evaluation rated the program as easy to understand and use. The Web-based self-management exercise and diet interventions program could be user-centered system when the strategies are outlined according to TTM.
